Have been having the craziest dreams lately!

Help me interpret this one . . . . 🙂
Had a dream last night that I was house-sitting for my good friend Jenn Nichols and, instead of doing a really great job and taking care of her house while she was away, I let a nasty HUGE mangy cat into her house and it destroyed everything. Whoops! Sorry, Jenn – maybe you know now who NOT to ask to check on your house while you’re gone! 🙂

Ain’t no sunshine when she’s gone . . .

…and she’s always gone too long, anytime she goes away…

{ By Stan }

I’ve been singing to myself all afternoon in an empty house while Stacy fulfills the “perfect daughter” part of her life.  Today is her mom’s birthday and Stacy took a day to surprise her mom with a visit.  Now, the plan was for me to spend one lonely night by distracting myself with a few chores and the dreaded taxes.  But, as you can see below, the Texas weather has dealt me another day to bachelorhood, as i insisted that Stacy not make the drive home in this mess.  Luckily, our house didn’t have the two inch hail they had a mere 10 miles away.

We did, however, get a good two inches of rain dumped on us through the gleaming sun though!

So, having another day to fend for myself, I make a second attempt at two minor plumbing issues at the house (and daggummit! I still can’t fix either!), finish the taxes, and return to my first love: making something I’ve never made before in the kitchen.  Today’s adventure is pizza.  Trying several subtle variances, I desire a properly chewy crust – changing kneading time, yeast, and proofing time (nerdy – maybe, but it’s delicious).  I was VERY happy with today’s result.

Here’s my dough baby:

And here’s his mature older brother:

I tried to capture pictures of my crust tossing, but you’d be amazed how hard it is to time a dough-toss with the self-timer on a camera.  It’s almost as frustrating as not being able to fix a simple plumbing problem (rrrrggghh…).

Stop by sometime and we’ll put a pie in the oven.

Stan

PS – I can’t wait for my Stacy to get home.

PPS – Did I mention I want my wife back?  Well, I want my Buddy back to.  This morning at 5:41 AM, I was startled awake by the sound of voracious crunching of dog food in my kitchen.  “Wow”, I thought to myself, “Buddy is wolfing down that food!”  Due to my pleasantly deep sleep, it took another ten seconds to register that Buddy, like my wife, was 200 miles away in Houston.  So who was in my kitchen eating my dog’s food?

Apparently, a child sized raccoon (like a raccoon the size of a child – not a baby raccoon)!  It streaked back out the doggie door from whence it came as soon as I flicked on the light, but then stood on my back porch on its back legs to size me up (and, seriously, it was almost three feet tall).  Since I didn’t have a wife to protect by firmly vacating the animal from the premises, I instead tried to document the interchange.  I grabbed my camera and crouched in the dimly lit kitchen for the beast to pop back in for another bite.
But, like the plumbing 12 hours earlier, I did not find success.  We had a standoff for about 10 minutes where he’d come right up to the door but not come in.  After awhile, he took off and I locked out the doggie door.  Next time, I’ll box him in by getting outside the doggie door so he has to go through me to escape (is that a good idea?).  Next time… next time… I’m getting that picture.

Lee and Betsy’s Wedding!

Stan and I had the privilege of joining Lee and Betsy, along with all of their family and friends, out at Balcones Springs for their beautiful wedding and party-tastic reception and boy was it fun! This was our first wedding of the season and we were so excited to get back in the saddle and capture some amazing moments for these two. Betsy and Lee are adorable, smart, fun, and very cool and their wedding day was a perfect reflection of their personalities.

It was also super fun to see some familiar faces from Liz and Taylor’s fabulous wedding! (momentary pause for shout-outs ) . . . Hey Liz, Taylor, and the rest of the Watkins fam! Holla, Donna! 🙂 Whazup, Jeanetta?! 🙂 When we get to shoot the weddings of the friends of previous clients, it’s like a huge family reunion and we LOVE it!

Anyway, back to Betsy and Lee . . . here’s a few faves from their day . . . la la la!

Gorgeous natural details – loved them! And I adored their cake toppers – so cute and original!

This is one of my favorite “first look” pictures EVER! How cute are they?!?!

Off to visit the llama!

Barrows, I heart you!

I adore this moment that Betsy had with Lee’s grandfather . . . and I am so thankful that Stan caught it.

Lee and Betsy picked an amazing band to keep the party pumping at their reception. Way to go, Memphis Train Review – you ROCKED! 🙂

Train tiiiiiiiiime!!!!

Congratulations, you guys!

Client PSA :)

Hey guys!

I’ve been busy getting back into the swing of things now that wedding season has started back up – hooray – I LOVE it! 🙂 Anyway, just wanted to post a quick PSA for my clients regarding portrait sessions:

If you’re wanting to do ANY kind of portrait session, NOW is the time. I have March and April dates available (M-F), but am completely wall-to-wall booked for May. I also don’t shoot portrait sessions June-August because I don’t want you to melt. 🙂 I have a couple openings for portraits (again, M-F) in the first 2 weeks of September, but nothing available in October or the beginning of November.

So . . . here’s what this means: if you haven’t gotten in touch with me to schedule a portrait session, email me today! Portrait spaces fill up SUPER quickly and I definitely want you to get a desirable slot! If we can’t get your portrait session booked within the dates I mentioned above, well, we’ll have to figure something else out for the end of the year and I know you may not want to wait that long. Email me, people!
Thanks and PSA over! 🙂

Hugs,
Stacy
