Well, I always tell people that Texas wedding photographers really do not experience an “off-season”, but Stan and I actually forced ourselves to have one this year and it’s been really great! I will have had 6 straight weeks of NO weddings – something that never happens, but I actually really miss shooting weddings! I cannot wait until my next one!
However, in the midst of this break from shooting, I’ve ramped up the office/logistical/housekeeping/organizing side of things quite a bit and I’m really excited about some new things that are in the works for my business. I’m always asking myself how things could be better and then I try and change them. Though it probably sounds super dorky, it’s a part of the business I LOVE and I’m really enjoying this concentrated time of getting things in check.
I’d love to say that every time I sit down at my computer, I’m insanely productive and focused. Um . . . no such luck. Today I decided that my first order of business would be to look through some old pictures of Buddy. 🙂 I did a “day in the life” session with my pride and joy just a few months ago and I realized that I never shared my favorites from it! Don’t worry – a day in the life of buddy only requires about 10 minutes of shooting because he basically does the same 5 things over and over again throughout the day. Here are three of my favorite things that Buddy does all day.
Buddy tries very very hard to understand us when we’re talking to him. I think it helps him a bit to tilt his head to the side. Also – anytime you see Buddy sitting around in the house, he’ll most likely be kickin’ it with Baby. Baby is Buddy’s . . . baby. We call him that because every time Buddy goes somewhere, he takes Baby with him and as soon as he gets there, he sits down and grooms Baby. He also likes to pull Baby’s arms off. That’s a whole other issue.
Action shot! Buddy yawns a LOT. I’m not sure why, but he’s a HUGE yawner. Actually, come to think of it, he yawns a lot while I’m talking to him. Maybe he’s trying to tell me something.
Buddy loves getting his belly scratched. I blame Stan. Stan is the best belly scratcher (I hear) in the world. He has won the belly-scratching state championship four years in a row now. Yeah. So, when Buddy hears a person approaching, he immediately stops whatever he’s doing and flips over to make himself available to scratchy fingers. He also does this when confronted by a large dog.
“Seriously. Scratch it.”
(okay, back to work I go. 🙂 )
