I keep starting and then stopping this blog post. I keep trying to put into words how much I adore Nicole, how perfect she and Rob are for each other, how much we loved shooting their wedding, and how much I love these pictures, but I just keep getting all messed up trying to convey all of it. Instead of writing (which I love, but takes me a VERY long time), I’m going to stick with my strength, which is telling a story in pictures.Enjoy.
Nicole’s momma and I became good friends through the wedding-planning process. She is wonderful and you’ll see her a LOT in these pictures because . . . well, I love her and it’s my blog, so that’s what I want to do!Haha!

John and Allison are married – yay! And theirs was one of the most beautiful weddings we’ve ever had the joy of shooting. Not only was the decor and ambiance just lovely all the way through, but their family and friends were also as warm and welcoming as they could be. We walked away from shooting their wedding so incredibly grateful that we were asked to be a part of it. I am 100% serious when I say that we have the most incredible couples in the universe! Somehow we always get the best of the best! Thank you, John and Allison (and Steve and Anne and Mr. and Mrs. H and everyone else!) for letting us share in your wonderful wedding day!
Before I go any further, I have two thank-yous I need to mention for people that will not show up in the photos below. I’ve been wanting to put this blog post together for such a long time now and I am thrilled that I finally got around to it! You may remember Catherine from her wedding that was featured on our blog in September. She and Jacob happen to be our across-the-street neighbors and they are absolutely AWESOME! Shooting their wedding was so much fun and if you have a sec, you should follow the link to check out some of our favorite pictures from their big day. These two have an incredible sense of style!
Well, I have been meaning to tell you guys about what an amazingly talented jewelery designer Catherine is. Catherine Nicole is both Catherine’s name and the name of her wildly successful jewelery business. She has been designing jewelry for many years and her current line can be found in many fabulously chic boutiques across the country, including many hot spots right here in Austin. I love Catherine’s jewelery SO much that I want every single one of my brides to wear it! I decided the best way to share her with you was to have her answer a few questions right here on the blog. So without further ado, I’m going to turn things over to Catherine and let her tell you about jewelery, her wedding, bridal advice, and more! Here we go!
How long have you been in the jewelry-designing business and why do you love it?
I have had my jewelry design business for 6 years now, and I truly love it for so many reasons (in addition to being my own boss!). You don’t buy jewelry because you need it or because it makes your butt look good or your stomach appear smaller. You buy it because it inspires you, or makes you happy, or will make someone you’re giving it to know they are loved. When I started, I had my own little boutique in Savannah, where I got to see what my designs meant to my customers. Now that I have a collection and sell to stores, I get to design with them in mind. I get to draw from everything and anything that inspires me, and translate it into something that my customers can add their own uniqueness to.
What advice would you have for brides that are choosing their wedding day accessories?
For yourself: Don’t go overboard with every possible accessory you can wear. I vote for one statement piece, like some stunning earrings, and then go dainty on the other accessories. I went simple on the earrings and bracelet and wore a long strand of pearls (which I cut from both of my grandmothers’ necklaces). … I also wore shoes with red piping though, so maybe I’m not one to talk about avoiding going overboard.
For your bridesmaids: The greatest thing about jewelry as a bridesmaid’s gift is that it is relevant to the occasion and ensures that their accessories show up great in your photographs. Plus, who doesn’t like getting jewelry?
Since you’re own wedding was so recent, what advice can you offer other brides regarding wedding details or ways to make their day run smoothly?
Never underestimate how important this day is to your families. If any one in your family has a specific picture they just can’t live without, make sure you know beforehand! Thankfully, Stacy helped us avert conflict when this happened to us.
Also, try to avoid leaving any wedding details to the last minute, and ask for help when you need it. There is a whole lot of preparation going into this day, and it would be a shame if you were too flustered to enjoy it.
Okay, just for fun: what’s your very favorite picture from your wedding and why?
My wedding pictures make me so happy! I now understand why they are so important. You get to see and enjoy slowly how all your ideas came together and how happy you both were.
One of my favorites is of my husband and I looking at each other and about to dance. It isn’t a special dance where everyone is watching. It was just some moment in the evening and a beautiful look caught at just the right instant.
Also, Stacy got this awesomely classic shot of us coming back down the aisle and everyone throwing rice. My husband looks like (a) nothing has every delighted him so much as flying rice, and (b) super happy to have married me!.
I love that from our posed couple shots to us shoving cake in each others faces, the pictures were definitely us and couldn’t have been just any bride and groom. Lastly (I know I was supposed to just say one!), I really didn’t think I would care or need close-ups of inanimate objects, but I just love the photos of the details that I put so much thought into. We had a ton of unique little details, and Stacy shot them in a way that really beautifully solidified the memory of them for me. (Not to mention, some of those details I never saw in real life!). I’m so grateful that Stacy was experienced enough to ignore me when I said in our first meeting that I didn’t get why people wanted those photos!
What’s your current favorite piece you’d like to see on a bride this year?
Right now, I’m loving the Scarlett earrings on brides (Just featured in Tribeza’s Bridal issue). The crystals reflect light very well, so they make everything look more radiant.
The Stacy Earrings (named after Stacy Cross!) are my favorite for bridesmaids. They are a smaller version of the Scarlett earrings and come in a variety of colors to match their dresses.
And for the daring bride with the backless dress, I recommend the Frieda Necklace worn backwards, which just made it’s Oscar Debut this week!
